Today’s post is so exciting because I will be discussing my latest piano composition and my first album! Let’s talk about the piano piece first.
The Girl with the Fire
A few months ago, my sister and I were talking about music during the intermission of this choir concert. She half-jokingly suggested I compose a piano piece for her to play (all of my sisters are pianists too), and I thought it was a great idea!
Some time passed, and things happened; my husband started a new job, we moved to a neighboring city, and my sister finished making her wedding preparations. But through all of this, I still remembered that I wanted to compose a piece for her to play.
A few days before her wedding, I gave her The Girl with the Fire as a wedding gift.
Analysis
The Girl with the Fire has two main ideas: the 8th note theme that opens the piece and a heartfelt melody that begins at 1:30.
When I sat at my piano to begin composing The Girl with the Fire, the theme at 1:30 wormed its way into my mind and onto my staff paper. I could hear it perfectly right from the beginning, and it set the stage for the rest of the piece. This melody’s haunting harmonies and sustained notes contrast heavily with the first theme, creating an atmosphere of energy and beauty.
I named it The Girl with the Fire for my sister. She has been through a lot so far in her life, yet she is now strong and confident in who she is. A fire burns inside of her, and I aimed to emulate that in this piece.
This brings me to some exciting news:

Very nice! You’re definitely right about the haunting melody of “The Girl with the Fire.” Your sister is blessed to have a sister talented enough to write a song just for her! I know I feel very blessed that my brother helped me out once by writing a song “on demand” for me to use in a mini-concert.
Thank you so much! That’s amazing that your brother did that for you. What a wonderful memory!
Yes, it is. Thanks for helping me remember it!
Beautiful – lucky sister!
Thank you!
