Stratosphere Lullabies: New Album

Hello readers! I know it’s been a long (long long long) time since I’ve posted here on A Pianist’s Musings, but today I want to share with you my newest album called Stratosphere Lullabies.

Stratosphere Lullabies is dear to my heart. I began composing the pieces for this album two years ago while pregnant with my twins. I wanted to write a set of pieces that were just for them – and it gave me something to focus on besides babies during my pregnancy. Unfortunately, my little guys were born 3 months early, so I had to pause the music for a while. And because raising twins is hard, I didn’t get much composing or piano playing done for a while. Now here I am, pregnant with baby no. 3, and I finally had the energy to finish this album. So instead of a collection of pieces just for my boys, this project is for all of my babies who have been with me during this journey.

  1. Lovely stuff, Kathryn. I particularly like the unpredictability of the harmonies (Picardy thirds and all!) in the middle section of Hymn for the Earth.
