What Child is This? – New Video!

This week I posted the video for my arrangement of What Child is This? up on YouTube! For the history behind this beautiful Christmas carol, read my post here. And if you’re interested in the sheet music:

I wrote this arrangement in the spirit of a contemporary waltz. Notice the waltz accompaniment in the left hand beginning at 0:17; this continues throughout. The chord progression heard at the beginning (Am-GM-Am-CM-GM-Em-EM) appears in many different forms in the music. And as the rhythmic intensity increases, so does the intensity of the mood. It’s a perfect combination of the mystery and wonder of Christmastime.

What is your favorite Christmas carol?

  1. It’s not really a Christmas Carol, but I first heard it on Projekt’s A Dark Noel. Happy Christmas (War is Over). Is that the right title? I dunno, there’s a line that says “Let the reindeer live on my roof”. That one. 🙂
