Relaxing Ambient Music to Celebrate Spring

Happy April! Because we are well into spring, I wanted to share some of my favorite relaxing ambient music to help celebrate the new season. Each track takes the listener into a beautiful, flower-filled world full of color, imagery, and life.

Relaxing Ambient Music

Wildflowers

This track is part of my album A Million Skies, and it uses sustained harmonies and unique textures to create a feeling of open space. It reminds me of a beautiful mountainside where the flowers are all in bloom, and the wind slowly stirs the foliage, creating a shimmering, wave-like effect.

Flower

I wasn’t able to find much information about this track, but the description in the YouTube video explains that this soundscape is “based on the new opening of a beautiful flower.” Its subtle sounds create an interesting atmosphere, one that slowly grows as texture and harmony are added. Like the new blooms of spring, the subtle changes in the music represent the coming of the new season.

Spring by Elskavon

This charming little track uses a sweet piano melody to create the sense of a flower in bloom. The soothing atmosphere paints an image of a beautiful, calm, spring day, perfect for this time of year. What is more hopeful than a fresh season full of color and life after winter? Spring encapsulates that idea through its light harmonies, simple texture, and nostalgic-yet-hopeful melody.

Underwater Flowers by Harold Budd (b. 1936) and John Foxx (b. 1948)

This mystical track uses brief melodic motifs over shimmering harmonies to create a sense of underwater movement. Budd and Foxx‘s use of harmonies really paints the image of shimmering light shining through the clear blue water to highlight some beautiful flowers.

And if you like it, check out this video where someone slowed this track waaaay down:

This is just some relaxing ambient music that showcases the beauty of spring. What other pieces do you enjoy listening to in order to celebrate the new season?

  1. Lili Boulanger’s Music is very relaxing. Here is a link to a 2018 album, Boulanger Hymne au soleil: https://song.link/album/i/1394134077 You would also appreciate “D’un soir triste” for piano trio https://song.link/i/1076269242 from the Boulanger trio. I have found so far eight albums in streaming dedicated to her music: https://raindrop.io/collection/5201831(and many more with at least one work from her). Unfortunately, she is so underestimated in the history of classical music.
